What Happens Next? with Bernard Salt: Indigenous business

There are currently around 16,000 Indigenous-owned businesses across Australia, and that number is predicted to grow to 18,000 over the next five years. This growth is seen in a range of sectors – from cultural services, building contractors and architecture, to fire management practices, and financial and professional services.

It is estimated that for every $1 spent in Indigenous businesses there is $4.41 in social return.

Supply Nation has grown rapidly since its inception in 2009 when it only had 13 business and 32 corporate members to over 2,700 suppliers on its register and over 450 corporate members.

Reconciliation Action Plans have helped grow Indigenous business, but their rapid growth is due to so much more.

Listen in to this episode, where Bernard Salt is joined by Glen Brennan, Indigenous Services Lead, KPMG, Laura Berry, CEO, Supply Nation, and Eddie Fry, Chair, Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation & Indigenous Business Australia to discuss the boom in Indigenous business.
